Documentary Short

Being Emily is about the remarkable story of a Gen-Z teen who runs and operates a popular digital zine made by and for disabled youth. VICE created this short film in partnership with Twitter as a pilot for a new studio initiative, with each short film focusing on the communities that use Twitter. Emily created her zine with other disabled teens she met on #DisabilityTwitter. In the film, we spend time with her as she prepares to graduate high school early and experience her first entry into independence at college. She also meets with her zine contributors from across the world to brainstorm new projects and gets to interview her #DisabilityTwitter idol.
